The Alarm Acknowledgement Module (AAM) can be used wherever fire brigade or engineered solutions allow use, to assist in reducing false alarm calls to brigade.

Each AAM is installed within the self-occupied unit (SOU), together with an addressable detector with an addressable sounder base fitted.

When the smoke detector is activated, the addressable sounder in the room is also activated.

The occupant then has an Alarm Acknowledgement Period (nominally 30 seconds) to press the button on the AAM to prevent transmission of the alarm to the fire brigade. Failure to do so will cause the alarm to transmit immediately.

Pressing the button on the AAM will give the occupant an Alarm Investigation Period (up to 180s) to clear the cause of the alarm and therefore return the system to normal state. Failure to clear the alarm within this period will cause the alarm to transmit immediately.
